There seems to be a problem serving the request at this time. The original pull toys were ancient Greek and Egyptian clay animals with wheels on their feet dating from around BC. The vintage and antique pull toys made from tinplate and cast iron are from the s, and the vintage wooden toys are from the late s into the s. Antique tinplate and cast iron pull toys were made from the middle s to just before
This simple little duck pull-toy still has its original 20" long woven string, though it is somewhat bedraggled. Originally, he appears to have been painted randomly in reds, oranges, yellow and green with a tiny red ball for a tail, below which is a wee tan ball for balancing the two front green wooden wheels when pulled. His head is inserted into his body with a dowel, allowing it to be manually turned, but it has shrunk with age, so if you turn him upside down the head falls out.
